Patient FAQs

How much is membership?

Membership for AP Care is completely free! Join us today and start saving on dentistry.

Is it a 10% discount on all treatments?

All dentists on our platform offer 10% off routine examinations (including new patient exams), non-surgical extractions, fillings and x-rays.

Dentists may then choose to provide 10% off a range of treatments from the treatment list. Not all dentists offer all types of treatment.

Fees are discounted on the dentist’s RRP which will vary depending on the provider.

What devices does your web app run on?

The AP Care web app is optimised to look best on mobile. As it is a web app it runs on most browsers and devices.

How do I get my discounted private care?

Once you have joined, show your treating dentist your membership status in our web app for verification and discount to be applied manually in practice. Discounts may not be applied over the phone until membership has been verified on the app.

Are you only offering dentistry?
We are starting with dentistry and hope to expand into all forms of primary care with one subscription. Watch this space and feel free to email us suggestions of clinics and health sectors you would like to see included as part of AP Care.
Which areas of the UK do you cover?
We are launching with dentists in Nottingham and Derby. We will roll out nationwide from there. Please email and let us know where we should launch next!
What treatments are included?

We have a core list that all our dentists provide. Dentists then display additional treatments that they may provide from our list below.

Please note:

  • Hygienists may also be on the platform providing hygiene and whitening only.
  • Clinical Denture technicians on the platform provide dentures (false teeth) only. Note, these are not the screw in implants.
How do I see the treatment list of each clinician in the practice?
Please select the practice you wish to view. Here you will have the treatment list. To view more clinicians please swipe/scroll (depending on device) to the right. Occasionally the treatment list may not display on your device. Please refresh the browser and the list should now display.
How do you allow practices onto your platform?
We manually verify CQC numbers.
How do I leave a review?

After visiting a practice please leave a review on the practice profile in the web app.

What is the root canal 1-5, 5 to 8?
1-5 refers to Incisors, canines, and premolars.

6-7 refers to back teeth called molars. These are often more complex to root canal and may require referral to a specialist.

How do I re-subscribe if I cancel before my subscription ends?
We are happy that you have chosen to stay as an AP Care subscriber. Please wait until your subscription ends and a notification email with a subscription renewal link will be sent where you can pay and re-subscribe.
I have a suggestion, how do I get in touch?
AP Care would love to hear from you. Please contact us via our website’s contact form.
Can I combine my AP Care discount with other offers?
No. Discounts are taken from RRP and may not be used in conjunction with other offers.
I have a treatment plan elsewhere. Can I go directly for treatment at an AP Care network practice?
We advise you to call the in-network dental practice you wish to visit for their booking procedure. Phone numbers are available from our platform.

Often the dentist would like to do their own examination first to ensure they agree with the treatment plan. Your dentist will then most likely book a suitable amount of time for treatment on a separate occasion.

Any x-rays or notes you can provide directly to the practice will help them.

How is my discount applied when calling/booking online?
If you choose not to call, our platform redirects you to our in-network practices’ own website where they have their own contact information or booking software.

For new patients, you should book a new patient examination at the normal non-discounted price. Only a partial deposit is taken.

When you arrive at the practice and have verified membership your 20% discount will be applied, and the remaining money paid directly to the practice.

E.g. £50 new practice exam booked online. £25 deposit taken. Once in surgery you have verified membership, this exam is reduced to £40 and the remaining £15 is paid to the practice in person.

Please note discounts will be applied only when membership is verified in practice.

Can members get 10% off NHS treatment?

No, the savings only apply to fees for private dental treatment.
When you arrive at the practice and have verified membership your 10% discount will be applied, and the remaining money paid directly to the practice.

E.g. £50 new practice exam booked online. £25 deposit taken. Once in surgery you have verified membership, this exam is reduced to £45 and the remaining £15 is paid to the practice in person.

Please note discounts will be applied only when membership is verified in practice.

When can I start receiving discounts on dental work?
Your discount can be used as soon as your membership is verified and activated. Just show the participating dental provider your membership status in our web app for verification and the discount will be applied to your treatment manually in practice.

Dentist FAQs

How do I sign up?
The practice manager or owner should create an account for the practice and all dentists working there.

One practice manager/owner can administer multiple practices. We currently only allow one administrator per practice.

Do all the dentists in the practice have to join?
No, the manager may choose which dentists to add to AP Care as well as the services outside the core services they wish to provide. Not all dentists in a practice have to be added.

Please ensure dentists joining have space to book in patients prior to joining.

Does AP Care replace my plan provider?
No, AP Care is not a plan provider nor does it replace your plan. AP Care connects practices with new patients who may be between dentists, irregular attenders or looking for one-off treatment. Like your plan however, there is a discount on treatment. There is no requirement to provide AP Care members with a certain number of exams or hygiene appointments per year.
How do I add a dentist/hygienist/CDT?
  • Please login to the dentist portal. The practice manager/owner is then able to add or remove staff members.
  • Click on the add/remove staff button for the practice you would like to amend. (Multiple practices can be administered per account)
  • Type in the name, and GDC number and select the clinician’s role.
  • CDT/Hygienist auto-populate with treatment that may be discounted.
  • CDT is dentures only
  • The hygienist is hygiene only.
  • Dentists appear with 4 core treatments all dentists must offer to be on the platform which are examinations, fillings, non-surgical extractions and intra-oral x-rays.
  • Please click add treatment to add additional treatment options.
  • Once all options are selected, click add staff.
Why do you ask for a utility bill?
This is part of our verification process and not displayed to the public. Please contact us for more information.
Is there any charge for my practice?
We are currently free for dental practices to join the AP Care network.
How do I verify patient membership to give a discount?
To check the patient’s membership status please ask the patient to login into the web app and click on the member status button. At the top of the screen, it will show the patient’s name and if they are a member underneath the name. Once you have confirmed they are a member you may then manually apply the treatment discount to the treatment plan.
How do I apply the patient's discount?

Please manually verify the patient’s membership from their web app at the start of the appointment.

At the end of treatment planning please manually reduce the fee by 10%. Please record the pre and post-discount prices in notes to avoid any confusion or doubt.

We also advise the dentist to verbally confirm the pre and post-discount pricing with the patient.

How do I verify patient membership to give a discount?
We advise you to view the patient’s AP Care logged-in screen for membership status and then manually apply the treatment discount.
Why has my practice not been approved yet?
We are manually verifying all contact details so please bear with us.

We are launching in Nottingham and Derby. If you are out of this catchment, we will be approving practices as we launch in your area. Please email us if you have any questions or are keen to speed up rollout in your area.

What type of practice is suitable for AP Care?

If you are providing quality care as an NHS, Private or Squat practice (so everyone) and you are looking to increase your number of private patients AP Care is right for you.

You must be willing to provide 10% discounts on our core service of examinations, small x-rays, fillings and non-surgical extractions. We have a menu of additional services which you are willing to discount for AP Care members.
